Summiting the Pyramid v4.0.0¶
Summiting the Pyramid is a research project focused on engineering cyber analytics to make adversary evasion more difficult. This project is created and maintained by the MITRE Center for Threat-Informed Defense in futherance of our mission to advance the state of the art and the state of the practice in threat-informed defense globally.

What’s New In 2026:
In our latest work, we updated and improved the project in the following ways!
Defined Detection Coverage and a method for calculating it based on detection quality and implementation coverage.
Built out an Implementation Catalog that breaks down each ATT&CK technique into distinct execution paths and system interactions.
Developed a fully automated Detection Coverage Calculator (DCC) that ingests analytic files and outputs detailed results about the actual detection coverage they provide.
Updated analytic design pages that describe a comprehensive Detection Engineering Workflow and High-Quality Detection Design Principles.
